1 Do the latches really hold the Powder Keg products down tightly?
The steel latches have a pull of over 200 lbs. per latch and are made with a built-in spring that ensures a “no-rattle” fit.

2 Does the fuel cap leak?
Our caps are equipped with a gasket we have had custom made out of Viton Rubber to ensure a “no-leak” seal for years to come.

3 Are the boxes waterproof?
If your sled ends up in a lake, our box will eventually fill with water. Our boxes use a built-in channel to direct any rain or melting snow around the opening to dump out the back of the box before it can enter where your dry goods are kept.

4 Do items inside get too hot because of the heat exchanger on the sled?
We have had no customer feedback yet on this subject but I have personally ridden many times in weather conditions from 0ºF to +36ºF degrees and always had cool, drinkable water and have never melted a chocolate bar.

How are the Powder Keg products made? Are they sturdy?

Our items are all rotational-molded Polyethylene plastic. This process is slower but ensures an even thickness and strength. This plastic is thicker than the hood plastic on most snowmobiles.

6 Why are Powder Keg products higher priced than bags?
Production costs are much higher and each custom shape requires its own mold. Our products will outlast a bag by many times. It is like comparing an umbrella to a roof; they’re both meant to keep you dry-but only one will work well for a long period of time!

7 Does the lid freeze shut?
I have had a solid sheet of thin ice cover my box many times and the lid has always opened with the same ease as if it were dry.

8 Will the storage box being over my sled’s heat exchanger cause problems?
Our longer items all allow cold air access to the tunnel. I’ve done my best to test this, even pulling a heavy load nonstop for fourteen miles at 35ºF, and I’ve never had a heating problem or had any feedback from anyone who’s had problems.

9 Do the items shake around inside while riding?
Carry two or three one-gallon size Ziploc bags inside your box. Blow into the bags to create air pillows to keep items from moving around. Some customers purchase foam can holders to keep beverage cans from rolling around inside the box.
